A player fans will be familiar with from links in January but unfortunately a deal could never be agreed upon. Things haven’t worked out so well upon his return at Swansea so it seems surprising that Michael Beale is still supposedly interested in the winger. Here’s a refresher on who he is;
Name – Morgan Whittaker
Age – 22
Nationality- English
Position – RW
Club – Swansea
When he was linked to Rangers in January he had just come off of an impressive loan spell at Plymouth and had been regarded as one of the most exciting players in League One with these numbers;
- 25 Appearances (29 Starts)
- 9G/7A
- 193mins Per Goal
- 1.3 Key Passes Per Game
These were really impressive numbers for a twenty one year old. He was dangerous cutting in from the right onto his stronger foot using his pace and power to beat defenders and either get a chance for himself or create for others. A unique combination of height, agility and balance made him a nightmare for defenders to mark in the first half of the season but since being recalled to Swansea and denied a Rangers move things haven’t gone so well.
These are his numbers since returning to Swansea in January;
- 14 Appearances (2 Starts)
- 1G/0A
- 424mins Per Goal
- 0.4 Key Passes Per Game
A clearly talented player but he’s struggled to get minutes and perform after stepping up a level, which is a concern. Michael Beale obviously seems something in him that makes him keen to bring Whittaker to Ibrox.
Another day and another link to a player from the English Championship, how many players from the league will actually come in though? Is this link just lazy journalism considering he was a target in January or will there actually be some movement behind this one?
