Who’s On Rangers Radar: Lyndon Dykes

Reports came out from London yesterday that Rangers are looking at bringing Lyndon Dykes in this summer. To say the reaction tho the rumour was negative is a huge understatement, but let’s look at him anyway;

Name – Lyndon Dykes

Age – 27

Nationality – Scottish

Position – ST

Club – QPR

A strong and powerful presence up top Dykes was always a handful for Rangers when he played in the SPFL. The type of striker Rangers haven’t had in years he would be a completely different option to what Rangers have just now. That obviously doesn’t mean he’s a better option, just, different. Let’s look at his numbers for QPR this season;

  • 36 Appearances (32 Starts)
  • 8G/2A
  • 338mins Per Goal
  • 11% Conversion Rate
  • 47% Aerial Duels Won

These numbers don’t exactly stand out and he’s not stepped up to the plate as much as QPR have needed as they now languish just above the relegation zone.

As much as he was a handful in his time at Livingston that doesn’t necessarily mean he would offer the same while at Rangers. The expectations are much higher than he’s even experiencing at QPR and the fact he isn’t thriving there doesn’t bode well for a move to Ibrox.

Michael Beale has played against and worked with Lyndon Dykes so if anyone knows what he’s capable of then it’s the manager. If he’s a player that Beale wants fans will need to have faith in his decision, he wanted Cantwell and Raskin and look how well they’ve turned out.

Is Dykes the type of striker that Rangers need? If he did come in where would he be in the pecking order? How would you feel if he arrived at Ibrox this summer?
