I’m writing this hoping that there will be more. That being said, two signings look like they could be happening this week. Those would be Cyriel Dessers and Jose Cifuentes.
The transfer guru himself Fabrizio Romano confirmed Rangers almost have the deal done. With Cifuentes it’s a case of with the transfer window now open he’s free to speak to other clubs to secure a pre-contract for December. The latest update was on June 21st via Mr OFFSIDER saying everything was agreed but the fee between the clubs.
Let’s look at these deals in more detail.
Cyriel Dessers

There’s not many more reliable in the game so it seems like one is likely to be done! Sooner rather than later seems to be the case here. Let’s hope this one is tied up at the start of the week.
The latest update was just this morning from Sven Claes who tweeted this;
I’ve been high on Dessers for a while and believe he would be worth the money. He’s proven his ability in Europe and I have no doubt he could do it in the SPFL.

Jose Cifuentes
As previously mentioned, no real update has been heard on this one since June 21st. That aforementioned Mr OFFSIDER tweet did say everything was agreed about from a fee though.
This one gets interesting because he had still been playing for LAFC, until their game early Sunday morning (UK time). Then when asked about his exclusion LAFC manager Steven Cherundolo claimed it was covered in the injury report.
The thing is though, it wasn’t. On that list was;
- Aaron Long – International duty
- Jesus Murillo – Lower extremity
- Sergi Palencia – Lower extremity
- Maxime Crepeau – R leg
No mention of Jose Cifuentes. Was this a clerical error or just the manager playing it cool over his imminent exit? The latter seems the mostly likely to me.
Hopefully his lack of involvement means he’s on his way to Scotland. He’s one of the targets that has excited me the most so far this window. Would you be excited about his addition?

Conclusion
I’m very hopeful both of these deals get done this week. Dessers seems the most likely and could be done as early as today.
Cifuentes is still unclear but the mystery surrounding his lack of involvement in the last LAFC game has surely raised some eyebrows.
