Here are the latest updates on Rangers search for a striker plus a look at the Jonathan Panzo and Jose Cifuentes deals. It’s no secret that Rangers are crying out for new forwards, so how is that search going? Interest in Jonathan Panzo was claimed a few weeks ago, what’s the latest on that deal?
It’s been well over a month since since transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said this;
The Ecuadorian still isn’t a confirmed signing, so what’s the latest on his deal? Let’s take a look at Rangers search for new signings.
Rangers Striker Search
One piece of news came out yesterday that make a section of Rangers fans incredibly happy;
At least that’s one link that can be put to bed.. Let’s have a look at the others.
Abdallah Sima – Over the weekend The Mail released an article claiming that Rangers were closing in on a season-long loan move for Brighton’s Abdallah Sima. The 22-year-old spent last season on loan in Ligue 1 with Angers as they were unfortunately relegated. He managed five goals, while Angers only won four games, so a move to a more dominant team may allow him to show what he’s really capable of.
Luca Bendoni of the Di Marzio team had this to say on the deal;
Rangers are in talks for Brighton striker Abdallah Sima, as per other outlets. The deal is not agreed yet, but parties are in contact, my source informs.

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out over the course of the week.
Read more about him here.
The same article from The Mail also listed Benie Traore and Danilo as targets should deals for Cyriel Dessers and Abdallah Sima fail. The Daily Record reported that Rangers had a £2.8m bid turned down for Benie Traore, suggesting that the interest in genuine. There have been no reports of a bid yet for Danilo but he seems to be one the club is keeping tabs on.

Jonathan Panzo
As revealed by The 4th Official via their Patreon, Michael Beale has spoken to the 22-year-old defender to sell him on the clubs vision. The clubs haven’t come to an agreement on the fee and that could be a stumbling block for this one. With interest from England and Germany it’s unclear how hard Rangers are pushing this one.
He’s definitely a defender that Michael Beale likes, and knows well, so will he pay what Forest want? This is another one that I think will move quickly and we’ll find out more this week.
Jose Cifuentes
The latest update on the deal came via Mr OFFSIDER on Twitter;
Translated as ‘José Cifuentes has everything arranged to go to Glasgow Rangers. One last economic detail is missing between clubs.’ The 24-year-old Ecuadorian is still playing for LAFC currently, having played the full match in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Reports suggest this one could get more traction come the start of July when his contract enters the final six months. The player himself seems keen on the deal, Rangers now just need to come to an agreement with LAFC. It feels like this one has dragged on but it will be worth the wait.
Conclusion
With no signings through the door last week, hopefully there’s some more traction on the aforementioned deals through the course of this week. Who would you be most excited to see come through the doors at Ibrox?
Personally, I’d love to get Dessers and Cifuentes through the door this week but we’ll need to wait and see what happens. It should be another exciting week in Rangers search to improve the squad for next seasons title race.
