The news that Nicolas Raskin is ruled out for today’s clash at Ibrox is a huge blow with how well the midfield had been operating with him in it. So who is the best option to step in? Assuming the formation stays the same and Jack and Cantwell are the other two in midfield let’s look at the options;
John Lundstram – Had been favoured more in the number six role recently so him coming in either means he would play his natural eight or Jack would be pushed forward. He has struggled for form all season but this could be a chance for him to make a case for a start in the game at Parkhead. ‘The best on earth’ hasn’t been heard in the stands for a while now, could this be the game he proves he can get back to that level?
Glen Kamara – Similarly to Lundstram, Kamara has struggled massively for form this season. Many fans expect a summer transfer is on the cards and he has looked disinterested at times during recent performances. Can he turn it around?
Scott Arfield – Used mainly as sub this season it seems unlikely he would come in from the start over the other options. Anytime he’s impressed as a sub he’s earned a start and has then disappointed so don’t expect him to come in for Raskin today.
Malik Tillman – Probably the least likely to come in after Arfield, nothing to do with form or ability but it seems more likely that he’ll be deployed further up the pitch. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him playing as a number nine and this seems a much more likely option than him being the Raskin replacement.
Who do you think is the best replacement for Raskin and if he’s unfit for Parkhead who would you play next to Cantwell and Jack?
