What started off as a quiet Tuesday soon got very exciting for Rangers fans. Reports of a bid for Danilo of Feyenord surfaced alongside the club apparently ‘closing in’ on Abdallah Sima. Let’s look at the midweek transfer update of Rangers pursuit of the forwards.
Danilo
Tuesday started with Dutch publication 1908.nl saying that ‘Rangers FC put a concrete offer on the table at #Feyenoord for Danilo Pereira da Silva!’ This sparked a frenzy of excitement among the fans. I mean, who wouldn’t be excited at the prospect of a Brazilian forward?!
Then via VI_nl on Twitter they revealed that the first bid for the 24-year-old had been rejected. They had this to say;
The amount the Scottish club wants to pay ‘does not come close’ to the price Feyenoord has in mind.
The Dutch club will listen to offers, but are in no rush to sell the striker.

This was, obviously, less exciting. Fans are now hyped at the thought of adding a South American striker to the ranks. Hopefully, the clubs can come to an agreement on this one, as he’s one of the few links the fans have come together on.
It was then revealed by trusted source for Rangers news, Heart & Hand that the clubs were far apart on their valuation of the player currently. I asked if they thought a deal was still possible and they had this to say;

Abdallah Sima
In the latest transfer update on Sima yesterday, Chris Jack released an exclusive regarding the bids for Danilo and Sima. The update on the bid for the 22-year-old Senegalese forward claimed that Rangers were closing in on completion of the deal. The article also suggested that their would potentially be an ‘option to buy’ involved.
One of the main hang ups fans had of this deal was not seeing the value in purely a loan move. An ‘option to buy’ on it though offers a great chance to ‘try before you buy’. He’s a player who was touted for big things before his move to the Seagulls, where he still hasn’t made his debut despite moving in 2021, and this is a chance to try and find his previous Slavia Prague form.
Hopefully his addition adds some much needed firepower to the front line. He’s capable of playing RW and through the middle so also adds some versatility.

Very exciting news which means at least one signing this week! Rangers will be doing their utmost to get deals done before Friday. That’s when the players return for pre-season and the more fresh faces in, the better.
My Thoughts On The Transfer Update
Both of these deals are one I’m excited by. A 24-year-old Brazilian forward with a good goal scoring record in The Netherlands. Then a 22-year-old Senegal international who previously terrorised Rangers for his former club.
Yes please! Both players with potential to improve and could be considered as player trading model type deals. Both would add goals and some excitement to the front line and I hope the club can get both done.
