The latest instalment of keep or sell focuses on Nicolas Raskin and Kemar Roofe!
R – Nicolas Raskin – He’s been really impressive since he arrived at Ibrox. Tenacious and gives 100% every time he’s on the pitch.
His ex boss described him as a ‘terrier’ and he is exactly that. The type of player that was missing from the Rangers midfield and he’s settled in excellently.
The only criticism that could be thrown at him is his end product in the final third. A few times he’s had the chance to get a shot away and hasn’t or his shot has been fairly tame. If he can improve his finishing/decision making in the box then Rangers have a complete all round player.
He’s recently stated Rangers are a stepping stone and it’s already clear to see he has the potential to play at the highest level. Nicolas Raskin is a player the fans should enjoy while he’s here because he might not be for long.
Verdict – Keep.
Kemar Roofe – A striker of genuine quality, who can’t stay fit for more than a handful of games at a time. His ability isn’t in doubt and neither is his goal scoring prowess.
The main issue has always been his availability. He has 78 total appearances for Rangers and has scored 36 goals, averaging a goal every 114 minutes. Those are excellent numbers but Rangers can’t rely on him.
If his fitness wasn’t a doubt he probably wouldn’t have ended up at Ibrox. It’s highly doubtful the club expected his availability to be this bad though.
If he’s fit he should be in the team and will get goals. In the 55 season he made 24 appearances and had 14G/3A, he was brilliant. Since then though, he’s only made another 24 SPFL appearances. Considering he’s probably close to one of the clubs highest earners, it’s a lot of money to pay a player who spends more time in the treatment room than on the pitch.
His injury troubles and high wages don’t make him an easy sell though. Who’s willing to take the risk now that his injury woes have worsened?
Verdict – Sell (Assuming there’s a buyer out there)
