Rangers A-Z: Keep or Sell? G-I

The latest instalment of keep or sell looks at Connor Goldson, Ianis Hagi and Filip Helander!

G – Connor Goldson – His two spells out this season have proved how important he is to the Rangers defence. The captain without the armband. One of very few players who should be 100% comfortable with their place at the club.

Rangers faced their biggest challenge in recent weeks and apart from one huge lapse in concentration looked more solid defensively. There’s no doubt Goldson’s return was key to that and Ben Davies looks more comfortable next to him.

Verdict – Keep

H – Ianis Hagi – This is a really tricky one. Hagi was crucial in the 55 season but after a serious injury hasn’t had the game time he might’ve expected. He was given a new contract before he was back on the pitch but since his return from injury game time has been limited.

The remaining fixtures in the SPFL could be crucial for where he’s playing next season. Impressive performances could show he deserves his place at the club whereas underperformance could lead him out the exit door.

An incredibly gifted footballer with an eye for a pass and a goal. Right now he is one of the biggest sellable assets at the club due to the ability he’s previously shown and his name. Whether fans like it or not Ianis Hagi is an international brand and the club may capitalise on this.

His ability before injury wasn’t in question but who knows if he’s the same player after such a long lay off? This will be one of the more interesting outcomes when the transfer window opens.

Verdict – Sell (Assuming Rangers can get £3/4m plus a sell on %)

Filip Helander – It’s a genuine shame his Rangers career has ended the way it has. To say his spell at Ibrox has been injury ravaged is an understatement.

Potentially the best centre back at the club when fit he was superb with Goldson in the 55 season. A player with international and Serie A experience Rangers really could’ve been doing with him at the start of the season.

All that being said he just can’t keep fit and that makes the decision an easy one.

Verdict – Sell (Release)
