Rangers A-Z: Keep or Sell? A-C.

I was on the ThisIsIbrox podcast last night and discussed some players who should stay or go so decided to write my thoughts on the whole team! This series will look at the Rangers squad as a whole and who should stay at the club and who should be allowed to leave. Most look at this by area of the pitch so let’s switch it up a bit and do it A-Z style! This series will focus on regular first team players only.

Let’s get started;

A – Scott Arfield – Out of contract this summer but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he stayed considering the need for home grown players. Was trusted to come on to replace the injured Malik Tillman in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final so the manager still have some kind of faith in him. A one-year extension could be likely.

Verdict: Keep. (Only for one more year)

B – Borna Barisic – This one all depends on what happens with Ridvan. If Ridvan plays till the end of the season and looks the part then sell Barisic. If Ridvan either doesn’t play or doesn’t look up to standard then you keep Barisic. He’s entering the last year of his deal so to avoid losing him for free the club might look to sell, or extend his deal. He’s been one of the clubs most consistent performers though so Beale shouldn’t be too hasty on this one.

Verdict – Sell. (Only if Ridvan impressed in the remaining games)

C – Todd Cantwell – One of the clubs best performers since he came in. A really talented footballer who seems to have regained his form at Ibrox. Is a much bigger grafter than fans probably expected and that’s probably why the support have such an affinity with him already. He’s one of the players this squad should be built around.

Verdict – Keep.

Antonio Colak – The big Croatian has 13 SPFL goals in 18 starts, scoring a goal every 108 minutes. These are excellent numbers for a debut season and he will always get goals. He’s not the all round striker the club need for a first choice striker but as a back up he’ll easily get double figures with his finishing ability. Goal getters are crucial in a title challenge and having a back up striker of this quality is key.

Verdict – Keep.
