Let’s forget about the drama of this weekend and look ahead to the future, despite not yet counting towards our homegrown quota there is a hope Lovelace will be here for many years to come. Having already played first team football for Millwall at sixteen and with EPL clubs rumoured to be interested it was a massive coup for Rangers to bring him in last summer.
His minutes have mostly been restricted to B team football thus far although he did make his debut in the League Cup against QOS getting a fourteen minute cameo and was on the bench against Livingstone in February.
Still only seventeen and having recently been called up to play for England’s U17s, there’s a strong opinion that he could be the next player to complete the pathway to the first team.
Having already experienced first team football at Millwall he could be ready to get some more first team minutes in the near future. He’s a physically strong presence, especially for his age, with good ability on the ball and strong striking instincts for being in the right place at the right time.
His performance in the Lowland League so far this season has been;
- 26 Apperances
- 15 Goals
- 6 Assists
There is obviously a massive jump in quality from the 5th tier of Scottish football to the SPFL but as a seventeen year old playing against men, these are pretty good numbers.
Capable of playing either on the wing or through the middle, would you like to see the youngster get a chance towards the end of the season to show what he’s capable of?
