The northern Irish winger/attacking midfielder was on the bench at the weekend but unfortunately didn’t make it on to the pitch. The fact he made it to the bench though suggests that Michael Beale sees something in him and he’s a player who could get minutes towards the end of the season.
He’s played mostly from the right wing for the B team this season and has posted some decent numbers;
- 37 Appearances
- 10 Goals
- 4 Assists
- 195 Minutes Per Goal Contribution
These numbers include two goals in four UEFA Youth League matches in which Rangers played Ajax, Liverpool and Napoli. He was also one of the youngsters to get minutes in the final game SPFL game against Hearts last season, which was his debut and he managed to pick up an assist.
The young winger is quick, tricky and loves to take on defenders. He’s definitely an exciting young prospect and one fans would enjoy seeing on the pitch. The biggest improvement needed to his game is decision making and knowing when to release the ball. That is something that normally comes with age and experience though so not a major concern in his development.
There was loan interest in the summer from a host of English League 1/2 sides which shows he’s highly rated. He also had a trail at Dutch side De Graafschap who were keen to sign him but Rangers managed to hold on to the youngster.
He’s been capped for Norther Ireland at every age group up to U19 so far and seems likely to make the jump to the U21 squad due to his form this season.
Would you like to see him given a chance towards the end of the season? Beale obviously sees something in him or he wouldn’t have made the bench at the weekend, are you keen to see what he can offer?
