One of Rangers Own: Arron Lyall

Rangers are currently looking for options on the wings and need to start imbedding some Scottish players into the team, should Arron Lyall be given a chance to show what he can do?

The nineteen year old is a regular on the right wing for the B team but the closest, so far, he’s been to the first team was being named on the bench against Alashkert in EL qualifying at the beginning of last season. Could the end of this season be his chance to show if he has what it takes?

A winger who is a strong dribbler, defenders have a hard time knocking him off of the ball due to his agility and balance which helps him get into good goalscoring positions.

In 32 Lowland League appearances he has scored eleven and assisted two so far this season, contributing a goal every 194 minutes, not far off of Kent’s numbers at 186 minutes per goal contribution.

His main strength is his directness and ability to run at defenders along with his willingness to have a shot at goal, particularly from distance, something the current Rangers forwards don’t tend to do. It’s fair to say, at least numbers wise, Rangers wingers have disappointed this season, maybe apart from Sakala. Is it time to bring in a younger option to see if he’s capable of making it at Ibrox?

Arron Lyall hasn’t made any first team appearances, yet, do you think it’s time he got a chance? If these youngsters never get a chance at this level, how can anyone at the club know if they’re good enough?
