Who’s On Rangers Radar: Luis Palma

‘On The Radar’ is a series which will look at any players rumoured to be coming into Ibrox this summer. The first player up is Honduran winger Luis Palma of Aris Thessaloniki. Georgios Sideridis of transfergeeks.gr reported Rangers have had scouts watching him, so who is he?

Name – Luis Palma

Age – 23

Nationality – Honduras

Position – Winger/CM

Club – Aris Thessaloniki

A tricky and technical attacker, he causes problems with his dribbling and movement. He picks up good positions and likes to cut inside from the left onto his right foot to get shots away. He is a good passer of the ball but his strengths lie in his shooting, three of his eight league goals have come from outside the box, including a direct free kick.

Let’s look at his stats this season;

  • 22 Appearances (14 Starts)
  • 8G/2A
  • 1 Direct Free Kick (14% Conversion rate)
  • 1.2 Key Passes Per Game
  • 44% Dribble Success

A shoot first winger, the opposite of Kent, who is still capable of creating for his team mates. A current Honduran international he seems an interesting option. Will he be a replacement for Kent or someone to challenge him?

Time will tell if the interest from Rangers is legitimate and it’s currently unclear how much he may cost. An interesting transfer rumour ahead of an interesting summer.

What are your initial thoughts on Palma? Is this a position Rangers should be focusing on strengthening?
