Who’s On Rangers Radar: Hwang In-beom

Another tweet from Georgios Sideridis and we have another transfer rumour! This time he claims that Rangers scouts have been watching Hwang In-beom of Olympiakos. Two rumours in quick succession suggests Rangers may well be expanding their scouting range to the Greek top flight.

Let’s look at the man in question;

Name – Hwang In-beom

Age – 26

Nationality – South Korean

Position – CDM/CM/CAM

Club – Olympiakos

A high energy central midfielder who is capable of playing either in front of the defence or behind the striker. He is technically gifted and more than capable of being a creative force within the midfield. He displays excellent control of the ball in tight areas and excels at creating space for himself.

Comfortable with both feet he thrives when driving forward with the ball, more often than not picking the correct pass or taking the shot at the right time. He would definitely be an exciting addition to the Rangers midfield alongside Raskin and Cantwell. Let’s look at his domestic stats for the season so far;

  • 26 Appearances (averaging 86mins)
  • 3G/4A
  • 88% Pass Accuracy
  • 1 Key Pass Per Game
  • 1.2 Interceptions Per Game
  • 1.7 Tackles Per Game
  • 54% Total Duels Won

The ultimate all-rounder, he impressed at the WC with South Korea and only joined Olympiakos last summer. Olympiakos got an absolute bargain bringing him in on a free transfer and it’s unclear how much it would cost to prize him away from Greece.

This type of transfer may demand a hefty outlay but Rangers would be getting a player of tremendous quality who is about to hit their prime. Do you think Rangers should take the plunge and bring him in?
