If Aberdeen forward Luis Henriques de Barrow Lopes isn’t on Rangers radar for the summer, then he should be! More commonly known as ‘Duk’ (Dook) he has had a tremendous debut season in the SPFL and could definitely offer something to clubs at a higher level. So, who is he?
Name – Duk
Age – 23
Nationality – Cape Verdean
Position – LW/ST
Club – Aberdeen
A natural both on the wing and through the middle he’s been part of an incredibly effective one-two punch with Miovski this season. A player who not only possesses great pace but also power, similar to Adama Traore, he is very difficult to stop once he gets going.
Always willing to run with the ball and take players on he’s an absolute menace for opposition defences and that’s why he’s been so successful this season. Hailing from Benfica’s famed academy, Aberdeen only paid around £400k for him last summer and it looks like one of the bargains of the season.
His stats in the SPFL so far are;
- 32 Appearances
- 16G/2A
- 133 Minutes Per Goal
- 0.8 Key Passes Per Game
- 42% Successful Dribbles
- 41% Total Duels Won
Impressive when a lot of players struggle in their first season in Scotland. Something else to note, despite Duk at times playing as a second striker, he’s scored more SPFL goals this season than Ryan Kent has in the last three combined. Scary numbers on both ends.
He’s also scored five headers this season, despite Rangers improvements from set pieces recently, adding another aerial threat wouldn’t be a bad move.
Goal scorers are needed at Ibrox and Duk is a completely different option to what is provided by Kent, Morelos and Colak. His goal scoring record was still great when Aberdeen were struggling, so imagine the chances he would get in this Rangers side.
If a reasonable price tag is on him then he’s a player that could offer a lot next season. Whether Beale and his recruitment team fancy him though is another question. Would you like to see him at Ibrox and would you use him as a Kent replacement or as a striker?
