The goalkeeping position is probably the biggest upgrade Rangers need this summer with it being widely assumed that Allan McGregor will retire this summer. The only rumoured replacement so far is Norwich and now Scotland international Angus Gunn.
Name – Angus Gunn
Age – 27
Nationality – Scottish
Position – Goalkeeper
Club – Norwich
The fact he’s recently made his Scotland debut shows how highly rated he is just now and keeping two clean sheets, especially against Spain, only adds to that. He’s also back to being the regular number one at Norwich and it was only last summer they signed him for >£5m and his contract isn’t up until 2025.
At 27 he’s just about to come into his prime and he’s currently helping Norwich in a push for a play-off place. Let’s look at his stats for this season;
- 25 English Championship Appearances
- 22 Goals Conceded
- 7 Clean Sheets
- 1/3 Penalties Saved
These are very impressive numbers in an incredibly competitive league. With all the variables discussed this seems like it could be a costly transfer for Rangers unless both the club and player pushed for it to happen.
Would you be happy to see Gunn being the replacement for McGregor? How much do you think it would take to get tempt him away from Norwich?
