Is Robby McCrorie Good Enough to be Rangers First Choice Goalkeeper Next Season?

Two Old Firm appearances, two clean sheets. Two starts in a row, two clean sheets. Four total Rangers appearances, four clean sheets! Robby McCrorie and clean sheets just go hand in hand.

He’s been given his chance by Michael Beale to end the season as first choice and he’s definitely taken it. After a solid performance last week against Aberdeen with a couple of good saves, yesterdays performance was even better.

He done everything right, played the ball short when the options were there. Got rid of it when under pressure instead of slicing it out for a throw in. He actually came off his line and claimed the ball numerous times, something Rangers fans haven’t been used to recently.

He was also very sharp off of his line. A couple of times he prevented a Celtic chance due to his quickness coming out to make the ball his own. Another thing Rangers fans haven’t been accustomed to recently.

That’s not even mentioning his brilliant save from O’Riley. The Celtic midfielder was clean through and hit his shot high and McCrorie done superbly well to react and turn it over the bar. A crucial save at a crucial time in the match.

He’s done everything right when he’s been called upon. He’s also been patient and waited for his chance. He’s been given his chance now and has been important in Rangers winning the last two games. If he keeps these performances up till the end of the season, do Rangers still need to purchase a new number one when the transfer window opens?

Is McCrorie ready to be Allan McGregor’s replacement or would you rather the club still go out and sign a new number one for next season?
