Rangers Twitter has been sent into a semi-frenzy this afternoon after seeing Danilo’s liked tweets. Here are a couple below;
The top tweet refers to his comments after the last Feyenord match. He claimed to be happy and looking forward to the current season. The tweet is true though isn’t it? He needs to say that while he’s still at the Rotterdam side.
The fact he’s liked this though is very interesting. Reports from Holland last week suggested he was ‘desperate’ for the move to Ibrox. I wrote more on that here. This looks like it could be, potentially, the next transfer saga this summer.
The 24-year-old Brazilian scored 10 in 34 Eredivisie appearances last season. Though only 14 were from the start and he averaged 39 minutes per game.
That still gave him a goal per minute rate of 134. Which, for a second choice striker, is excellent. He’s quick, great with the ball at his feet and has a natural strikers instinct.
I think he could be incredible for Rangers in Michael Beale’s system. It’s also really exciting to be linked with a South American attacker. When was the last time Rangers were linked to a Brazilian forward?
I’m sure no one would complain about the addition of some Brazilian flair at Ibrox. This could all be getting blown out of proportion, it’s fun to speculate though, right?
Danilo is one of the few targets that has United fans with excitement. Rangers had an apparent opening bid rejected but could this end up being a similar situation to Cyriel Dessers?
Michael Beale said the Nigerian striker was crucial in pushing the move through. Could Danilo be in the same situation?
Time will tell but I hope this one moves quickly. Is Danilo a player who would excite you?
