Danilo Interest Hots Up as Borna Barisic is Set to Depart Rangers

Reports from Dutch outlet 1908.nl are reporting that Rangers interest Danilo is concrete and another bid is coming. Then Andy Devlin reported for The Scottish Sun that Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Borna Barisic to cover their LB crisis.

The rumours of outgoings started off slow but are now coming thick and fast. Barisic is the latest now with Kamara, Colak and Sakala coming before him.

Could the Croatian left back be on the way out? The 30-year-old only has one year left on his deal. That means now could be the perfect time to sell.

Borna Barisic

On paper, he performed well last season. One goal and nine assists alongside nine clean sheets. His ability to get assists isn’t the issue though.

He’s a below average defender and that has shown at times. Especially in Old Firms games at the beginning of the season. He has an excellent left foot and provides brilliant set piece deliveries. Is that enough though? Apparently, for Nottingham Forest, it could be.

Andy Devlin had this to say in the aforementioned article;

NOTTINGHAM FOREST are lining up a shock move for Rangers left-back Borna Barisic.

SunSport understands former Ibrox sporting director Ross Wilson could be ready to raid Gers in a bid to solve the left-back crisis at the City Ground.

Forest manager Steve Cooper is frantically trying to bolster his squad ahead of the new English Premier League season, with the full-back issue his top priority.

Renan Lodi impressed on loan last season, but Forest have been priced out of a permanent move, with Atletico Madrid demanding £26million.

And with Forest’s Harry Toffolo — another left-back option — now set for a hefty ban after FA charges were brought against him for alleged breaches of betting rules, Wilson is ready to turn to Barisic.

The reported fee would be around £2m. This would be a good deal for Rangers for a player in the last year of their deal that will turn 31 in November.

Ridvan Yilmaz was the starting LB towards the end of last season and was very impressive. Most fans assume he’ll keep the starting spot. This would leave Rangers with Dujon Sterling and Adam Devine capable of filling in.

This may also push the move for Jonathan Panzo who can play both CB and LB. How would you feel about this one?

Danilo

The report from 1908.nl claims Rangers interest is ‘concrete’. This is what the article states;

Rangers remains concrete for Feyenoord striker Danilo Pereira da Silva. The number two of the Scottish division has deposited a new multimillion dollar offer with the Rotterdam club management this week to get a transfer off the ground.

Danilo himself also has a generous, multi-year offer from the Scots in his pocket. Manager Michael Beale of The Gers greatly adores the striker. With the new proposal, the Rangers are more close to Feyenoord’s competitive price for its striker. Last season he accounted for fourteen goals and four assists.

With Antonio Colak on the way to Parma that gives Rangers more money to play with. Reports of a £4m move for Fashion Sakala would also aid this transfer.

Danilo is an exciting player who could be an incredible addition to Rangers front line. The 24-year-old wasn’t first choice at Feyenord and still managed 10 goals and 3 assists in the Eredivisie. That’s averaging a goal every 134 mins while only averaging 39 mins per game.

I think he, among the other forwards added, can more than make up for the goal contributions from Colak, Sakala, Morelos and Kent.

I’m excited about Rangers front line for next season, are you?

Conclusion

If Ridvan is cemented as first choice then getting £2m for Barisic is a great deal. With one year left on his deal and the fact he’s turning 31 in a few months, I don’t imagine you’d get much more for him.

Anyone that reads the blog knows I’m all in on Danilo. A 24-year-old Brazilian forward with experience in a similar league and Europe? Yes please. He’ll add excitement alongside Lammers, Sima and Dessers.

How do you feel about these deals? Should Rangers sell Borna Barisic? Are you happy with Danilo potentially coming in?
