Chris Jack reported yesterday that no fewer than six clubs are interested in a £5.5m deal for Glen Kamara. After his performances in the Europa League run, £5.5m would have been laughed at. However, last season he never managed to hit the heights of those performances and the general consensus among fans is that he seems to have checked out.
He’s the type of player that thrives in Europe when he has a bit more space to operate in. He’s a very clever footballer but Scottish football just doesn’t suit this strengths. Considering Rangers paid £50k to get him early after a pre-contract agreement, he’s more than been worth it.
If the £5.5m fee comes to fruition, that represents huge profit for the club and another excellent use of the player trading model.
Interested Clubs
This is what the aforementioned article had to say on the deal;
Glen Kamara is attracting interest from six clubs from across Europe as he prepares to quit Rangers in a £5.5million summer deal.
Boss Michael Beale revealed on Saturday that the midfielder was training away from his first team squad at present ahead of his likely exit.
And we can reveal that the Ibrox hierarchy are gearing up for an interesting 48 hours as half-a-dozen sides consider their options regarding Kamara.
French duo Lyon and Stade Reims are joined by Turkish outfits Trabzonspor and Galatasaray in the race for his signature and it is understood that Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Copenhagen have also expressed an interest as Kamara prepares to decide on his next move in the game.
Rangers are seeking a fee of more than £5million for Kamara and the 27-year-old, who moved to Ibrox from Dundee in a cut-price £50,000 deal in 2017, has played his last game for Beale’s side.

Some big names are interested in the 27-year-old and the £5.5m fee doesn’t seem out of reach for any of these clubs.
Conclusion
There was a time that Glen Kamara was a player worth £10m+. He’s not that player anymore and wasn’t the whole of last season. For his current version £5.5m would represent an excellent piece of business from the club.
The current version of the player doesn’t look interested in playing for Rangers. He’s a player the club definitely should have sold at the height of his value. However, in recent years, Rangers have famously held on to players for too long. Even just in this window you look at Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and now Glen Kamara. There was a time the club would have expected to get around £30m for the trio and now we’re looking at only gaining £5.5m for them all.
How do you feel about this news? Are you excited about the prospect of getting £5.5m for a player that doesn’t want to be at the club? Do you think he’s worth more?
ICYMI read this morning’s article on Fashion Sakala’s supposed departure here.
Ship has sailed on huge fees as last season he offered little. If we get circa £10m for him Sakala and Wright then we’ve pulled in huge amount of our spend. If we then spend around £4m or so on new CH we then have spent €20m we still have recovered 50% of our spend.
